Why is the meter being replaced?

Meters have a specific period of legal validity which depends on the type of meter. In the final year of its validity, some sample tests are conducted on the metre and the results of those tests determine whether the meter is to be replaced or not.
Utility companies have to comply with consumer laws no. 1061/2008 and no. 1062/2008 on how  meter collections and sample testing are conducted.
