No hot water in Hafnarfjörður

There will be no hot water in Hafnarfjörður and a small part of Garðabær from 10 PM on August 21 until 10 AM on August 23. The reason for this is the connection of a new district heating pipe that will secure hot water for the residents of Hafnarfjörður in the future.

Veitur Utilities has planned the shutdown to be at a time when hot water usage is at a minimum. We understand that this can be inconvenient for residents and businesses, but unfortunately, it is necessary for such a large development.

The shutdown is related to construction works at Álfaskeið and Sólvangsvegur, which have been ongoing since November last year and are scheduled to be completed this fall. We are renovating the district heating system to increase transport capacity and to meet the increased demand in the municipality due to the increase in the number of residential buildings and the expansion of the town. The goal is to ensure hot water for all residents of Hafnarfjörður for decades to come.

The following streets in Garðabær will be affected by the closure: Boðahlein, Naustahlein, Hraunholt, Hraungarðar, Hraunhóll, Hraunhamrar, Hrauntunga, Hraunkot, Hraunborg, Gimli, Björk, Brandstaðir, Garðahraun, Miðhraun, Norðurhraun, Suðurhraun og Vesturhraun.
