Veitur is now the main sponsor of the Winter Lights Festival in Reykjavík. The Winter Lights Festival was first held in 2002, and the goal of the festival has been to light up the short day and invite residents and visitors to experience the city's unique atmosphere. All six municipalities in the capital area participate in the Winter Lights Festival.

Enlighted

The outdoor installation 'Enlighted' by Litten Nystrøm and Haraldur Karlsson will be on display in the gardens of Elliðaárstöð. Enlighted was made to answer the wish of Reykjavik's citizens for more light during the shortest days of winter and was first exhibited at Vetrarhátíð in 2022.

Litten Nystrøm and Haraldur Karlsson are working artists in Reykjavík and have a studio in Laugarnes called MAP. They have also previously participated in the Winter Lights Festival with the work Interference, which was projected on Hallgrímskirkja in 2021.

Power-Line

In Elliðaárstöð's old power station, 'Power-Line' a unique experience of deep listening and tuning meditation. The experience is a dance between pre-composed compositions and improvisations. Focusing on deep listening, the piece encourages the audience to think about the importance of deep listening in everyday life, both to the self and each other.

The musicians who will perform are Hekla (Hekla Magnúsdóttir), Osmē (Benedikt Reynisson, Helgi Örn Pétursson og Þórður Bjarki Arnarson), Sigrún (Sigrún Jónsdóttir) og Sk-Ar & Jesper Pedersen (Skúli Arason og Jesper Pedersen).
